ME SACO UN OJO RECORDS in conspiracy with DARK DESCENT RECORDS is proud to present ANATOMIA’s highly anticipated fourth album, Corporeal Torment, on vinyl LP and CD/CS formats, respectively.

By now, ANATOMIA should require little introduction. For nearly 20 years, this Japanese cult have explored the darkest and most deranged ends of the death-doom spectrum. Theirs is a sound that’s intrinsically tied to tradition yet evinces a wealth of weirdness, making their sound both classic and challenging in equal measure. And while their countless split recordings are beloved by the band’s ever-growing legions of fans, it is ANATOMIA’s full-lengths where they truly dive into the deep end, exploring subterranean expanses of the subconscious and sound itself, making each of their three judiciously-spaced-apart albums unique experiences unto themselves.

The same can be said for ANATOMIA’s long-awaited fourth album, Corporeal Torment. Although it’s been merely four years since the critically acclaimed Cranial Obsession – that span of time rather quick between ANATOMIA albums – Corporeal Torment offers a more concise and daresay “energetic” counterpart to its epically mammoth predecessor. Then again, with tempos rarely kicking above a sludgy gallop as set forth by early heroes Autopsy, it’s not long before second track “Slime of Putrescence” drags the listener well and truly into the void of nulled-senses atmospherics. Indeed, ANATOMIA’s grasp of mesmerizing mood and dynamics they so masterfully displayed across the aforementioned predecessor is flexed even more fully on Corporeal Torment: more extremes between crushing and quiet, BPMs often dialed back into the negatives, and reverberating textures that occasionally recall musique concrète. In fact, the slipstream of energy into inertia as the album throbs onward becomes a vortex that’s nigh impossible to escape…but perhaps that was never an option when one steps into ANATOMIA’s claustrophobic cocoon of death-doom. No hyperbole and no hope, Corporeal Torment is punctuation to the end.

DARK DESCENT and ME SACO UN OJO are proud to present a special split album between ANATOMIA and UNDERGANG on vinyl LP and CD format.

Remember when Japan’s ANATOMIA and Denmark’s UNDERGANG teamed up and unleashed one of the filthiest splits of rottenness imaginable? Well, good news: it’s happening again! This diabolical team of musicians whose prolific efforts in the underground death metal world are impossible to ignore are giving us more!

From the earliest moments of carnal doom that give a potent sense of dread, building into a swing of putrefying brutality, dragging fleshy tendrils across whomever is misfortunate enough to wander the catacombs in which these sounds dwell: ANATOMIA bring their very unique and recognizable sound to the A-side, which is as unhinged as usual, showcasing their extremely tight musical abilities in all of their raw, indigestible splendor. From long, sepulchral passages to pulverizing assaults of brutality, there is no predicting the maniacal malice that lies ahead; at any given moment, all could give way to something even more crazed, warped, and brutal. The initiated shall know already that the atmosphere of ANATOMIA’s music is absolutely flawless, and those yet to learn will be greeted by something truly haunting, a spectral cacophony of dirty-yet-immersive, graven musicianship that creeps and crawls with an elegance yet retains all of the unpleasantness you could hope for.

Flipping over and UNDERGANG land insanely heavy blows from the get-go. Those familiar sewer-drenched hooks of meaty mid-tempo death metal plunge us into a pool of putridity with some bouncy drums, pungent riffs, and naturally vomitous vocals, altogether delivering that perfect combination of brutal, catchy, and utterly ferocious music that makes UNDERGANG so beloved by lovers of all things macabre. Flowing from the spectral soundscapes of ANATOMIA, this is a much more direct, in-your-face approach that is welcome and yet doesn’t detract from the ambient horrors of the split. Chugging violently through three tracks of carnage and debauchery, these titans of trench-foot-inducing extremity will punish you with some of their nastiest material to date that contorts into a spasming opera of filth. Like choking on mud, there is little respite or chance of escape – just more drowning layers of rot to descent upon you.

This is not just a misshapen, flimsy stitching-together of two bands. This is a statement of truly barbaric, savage, and putrescent underground death metal from two of the leading forces, standing with integrity above all trends and so-called movements, playing the most morbid music one could hope for in tandem. Prepare to be buried alive by the grotesqueries on display as ecstatically hideous death metal does what it does best and transports you to the underworld. Dark Descent Records, in conspiracy with Invictus Productions, announce March 17th as the international release date for Ascended Dead’s highly anticipated debut album, Abhorrent Manifestation. Invictus Productions will handle the album’s European release, while Dark Descent will handle its North American release.

Surprisingly born under San Diego’s sun, Ascended Dead are nevertheless as ugly as it can be: not by design nor by trying their best to sound that way, but just because that foul stench they ooze from every pore is their true nature. Yes, their founding members and some of their current members have played or are still playing in other bands, but none of this really matters, as their mainman JR stresses that “Everything we’ve attained was built from the ground up, and we’d like to maintain as much of a stand-alone legacy as we can.” Yes, they’ve had their fair share of struggles and obstacles to overcome – something well-documented in the booklet of last year’s self-released Ritus Mortuus compilation – but this somehow only strengthened their determination and musical idiosyncrasy.

See, a lot of bands these days wish so bad they were part of the same early extreme metal wave that swept the plate clean in the late ’80s, but end up only second-guessing how all their idols thought. But Ascended Dead are a rare case of a band who just go for it and whose DNA is naturally carrying that FTW element – that simple idea of not waiting, an instinct to destroy everything in sight. Necrovore, Insanity, or even Sarcofago are just of some of the acts they’ve been compared to, but it doesn’t really matter, because after one raw-as-fuck demo, one EP, and two compilations, Abhorrent Manifestation is the sound of a band who have come to terms with their own bestiality, and instead of trying to tame it, they’ve decided to ride the wave and let it overflow everything.

Recorded last spring at Trench Studios in Corona, California, most of the album’s ten songs are exclusive to this release, with only three being newer, more focused versions of tracks already presented on side A of The Advent tape and “Ensnared for Eternity” from the Arcane Malevolence EP, which has been given a new lease of life.

After signing with the label prior to the August 2015 release of the Interdimensional Extinction EP, BLOOD INCANTATION returns with a 30-minute cerebral whirlwind of powerful atmospheric death metal. The intense and otherworldly technical/ambient/funeral death metal of Starspawn leaves the listener feeling transcendentally disembodied at the end of an unknown dimension.

Produced entirely in analog, the energy and magnetism of live BLOOD INCANTATION is tangibly melting through the speakers, and the songwriting, production and performance constellations have all fully aligned.

With appearances at California Death Fest and Covenant Festival (Canada) already on the horizon, and an even more extensive US tour this September, the worldwide spread of the BLOOD INCANTATION tentacles into all orbits is as inevitable as your own death and this galaxy’s violent collapse.

Dark Descent Records will release the album on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital formats.

Castrator – Coronation of the Grotesque 12” LP

Three years after their crushing debut Defiled in Oblivion, Castrator return with Coronation of the Grotesque, an album that not only exceeds all expectations but leaves them shattered in its wake, firmly cementing the band among the North American death metal elite.

“We see it as a leap forward,” exclaims co-founder Carolina Perez (drums). “It’s by far the strongest work we’ve done to date. Writing Coronation of the Grotesque was an incredibly enjoyable experience, and everything seemed to come together much more naturally this time. While the album still retains elements of who we were as a band, it’s much more refined, cohesive and brutal.”

The creative collaboration is primarily driven by founders Carolina Perez and bassist Robin Mazen, with ferocious vocalist Clarissa Badini and newly recruited guitar virtuoso Sara Loerlein completing the lineup.

“Sara has been fantastic. She’s incredibly professional, brings a ton of new ideas, and her experience really shines through. She’s added a fresh dynamic to the band, and her guitar leads are absolutely killer! We’re really excited to have her as part of the band.”

Lyrically Coronation of the Grotesque explores a range of historical and societal themes that reflect on injustice, victimization, and human suffering. Among the topics confronted are the tragic killing of Mahsa Amini, the ancient Sumerian practice of eunuchization, and seething condemnation of predator Naasón Joaquín García. Badini’s exceptional vocals elevate the lyrics, delivering a powerful and precise expression of the album’s themes.

Coronation of the Grotesque was recorded across multiple studios with key figures in the US death metal scene. Bass recording was engineered by John Tardy (Obituary) at Redneck Studios, guitars and vocals by Jordan Milner at Obsidian Audio, additional guitars by Taylor Nordberg (Deicide) at Smoke and Mirrors Productions, and drums by Noah Buchanan (Nunslaughter) at Mercinary Studios, where Buchanan also handled mixing and mastering.

Touring with the likes of Immolation, Exhumed, and Cattle Decapitation has cemented Castrator’s reputation as a commanding live force, and concert announcements in support of Coronation of the Grotesque are imminent.

Watch this space… and brace yourself for a relentless death metal onslaught!

This summer, furious old school mastery returns to Dark Descent Records in the form of Castrator’s long-awaited debut album Defiled in Oblivion. Nearly seven years have passed since their No Victim EP set the scene aflame… yet these were mere warning shots across the bow.

With their third release to date, the New York four-piece have perfected their blend of fierce old school USDM to a fault. More uncompromising and ruthless than ever before, Castrator’s zero-fucks-given approach rips and shreds across 9 hypnotically violent new tracks (alongside a cover of Venom’s Countess Bathory) and make Defiled in Oblivion a release to be reckoned with. Boys club beware!
