Altarage – Worst Case Scenario CD
12.00€ včetně DPHFour months after the super-limited and already sold-out Cataract EP, ALTARAGE strike back with their sixth full-length, and first for DOOMENTIA since 2016’s Nihl.
Those hooded musicians’ taste for thick and noisy layering is quite notorious and indeed, the guitars alone here are not just drowned in tar but are actually bathing in it in delight. Yet somehow for this quite concise album things are taking a slightly different turn here, the mysterious trio has somehow decided to stray away a bit from their usual path in order to achieve something even more unsettling and bizarre, yet as crushing.
If Worst Case Scenario eight tracks – including the song ‘Cataract’ already included on the EP of the same name yet here with a different mix – are once again some of the heaviest and noisiest bastard sons of the (un)holy trinity of black, death-metal and harsh noise you’ll ever hear this year, a new sense of clarity can felt through some of them. Far from away from the standard ‘metal’ production values and more akin to, say, a strung-out noise-rock band desperately looking for their next fix, instead of lessening their impact, this sonic revaluation maximizes it even more.
Yet at the same time, with songs for example like ‘The Rigid Subject’ or ’Exhaust’, ALTARAGE never sounded so chaotic and so on the verge of imploding, super-nova style. Proving once and for all that no other band sounds or even dares going as far as into the abyss as they do… Behold, Worst Case Scenario could well be your worst nightmare.
Anatomia – Corporeal Torment CD
13.50€ včetně DPHME SACO UN OJO RECORDS in conspiracy with DARK DESCENT RECORDS is proud to present ANATOMIA’s highly anticipated fourth album, Corporeal Torment, on vinyl LP and CD/CS formats, respectively.
By now, ANATOMIA should require little introduction. For nearly 20 years, this Japanese cult have explored the darkest and most deranged ends of the death-doom spectrum. Theirs is a sound that’s intrinsically tied to tradition yet evinces a wealth of weirdness, making their sound both classic and challenging in equal measure. And while their countless split recordings are beloved by the band’s ever-growing legions of fans, it is ANATOMIA’s full-lengths where they truly dive into the deep end, exploring subterranean expanses of the subconscious and sound itself, making each of their three judiciously-spaced-apart albums unique experiences unto themselves.
The same can be said for ANATOMIA’s long-awaited fourth album, Corporeal Torment. Although it’s been merely four years since the critically acclaimed Cranial Obsession – that span of time rather quick between ANATOMIA albums – Corporeal Torment offers a more concise and daresay “energetic” counterpart to its epically mammoth predecessor. Then again, with tempos rarely kicking above a sludgy gallop as set forth by early heroes Autopsy, it’s not long before second track “Slime of Putrescence” drags the listener well and truly into the void of nulled-senses atmospherics. Indeed, ANATOMIA’s grasp of mesmerizing mood and dynamics they so masterfully displayed across the aforementioned predecessor is flexed even more fully on Corporeal Torment: more extremes between crushing and quiet, BPMs often dialed back into the negatives, and reverberating textures that occasionally recall musique concrète. In fact, the slipstream of energy into inertia as the album throbs onward becomes a vortex that’s nigh impossible to escape…but perhaps that was never an option when one steps into ANATOMIA’s claustrophobic cocoon of death-doom. No hyperbole and no hope, Corporeal Torment is punctuation to the end.
Anatomia/Undergang split CD
13.00€ včetně DPHDARK DESCENT and ME SACO UN OJO are proud to present a special split album between ANATOMIA and UNDERGANG on vinyl LP and CD format.
Remember when Japan’s ANATOMIA and Denmark’s UNDERGANG teamed up and unleashed one of the filthiest splits of rottenness imaginable? Well, good news: it’s happening again! This diabolical team of musicians whose prolific efforts in the underground death metal world are impossible to ignore are giving us more!
From the earliest moments of carnal doom that give a potent sense of dread, building into a swing of putrefying brutality, dragging fleshy tendrils across whomever is misfortunate enough to wander the catacombs in which these sounds dwell: ANATOMIA bring their very unique and recognizable sound to the A-side, which is as unhinged as usual, showcasing their extremely tight musical abilities in all of their raw, indigestible splendor. From long, sepulchral passages to pulverizing assaults of brutality, there is no predicting the maniacal malice that lies ahead; at any given moment, all could give way to something even more crazed, warped, and brutal. The initiated shall know already that the atmosphere of ANATOMIA’s music is absolutely flawless, and those yet to learn will be greeted by something truly haunting, a spectral cacophony of dirty-yet-immersive, graven musicianship that creeps and crawls with an elegance yet retains all of the unpleasantness you could hope for.
Flipping over and UNDERGANG land insanely heavy blows from the get-go. Those familiar sewer-drenched hooks of meaty mid-tempo death metal plunge us into a pool of putridity with some bouncy drums, pungent riffs, and naturally vomitous vocals, altogether delivering that perfect combination of brutal, catchy, and utterly ferocious music that makes UNDERGANG so beloved by lovers of all things macabre. Flowing from the spectral soundscapes of ANATOMIA, this is a much more direct, in-your-face approach that is welcome and yet doesn’t detract from the ambient horrors of the split. Chugging violently through three tracks of carnage and debauchery, these titans of trench-foot-inducing extremity will punish you with some of their nastiest material to date that contorts into a spasming opera of filth. Like choking on mud, there is little respite or chance of escape – just more drowning layers of rot to descent upon you.
This is not just a misshapen, flimsy stitching-together of two bands. This is a statement of truly barbaric, savage, and putrescent underground death metal from two of the leading forces, standing with integrity above all trends and so-called movements, playing the most morbid music one could hope for in tandem. Prepare to be buried alive by the grotesqueries on display as ecstatically hideous death metal does what it does best and transports you to the underworld.
